Production Manager

Our client, a manufacturer within the oil and gas industry, is seeking a Production Manager to join their team based in Whitstable, Kent.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the planning and day to day running of the Works department. The candidate will be in direct charge of 15-20 employees and will have previous experience as an effective leader providing support, motivation and guidance the fast-paced working environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Plan and organise the production schedule.
• Assess and plan resource requirements to achieve the schedule.
• Guide the department direction on priorities and production methods.
• Ensure production deadlines are met. Escalate if potential for deadline to be missed.
• Resolve issues in production as they arise and ensure relevant departments action effectively.
• Ensuring good communication between Production, Projects, Purchasing and Engineering departments.
• Ensuring department Procedures are communicated and followed by all employees. Ensure maintenance of these procedures when things change.
• Ensure Quality inspections are carried out at required points and quality standards are met.
• Ensure Health and Safety regulations are met
• Ensure everyone is working safely for themselves, colleagues, contractors and visitors.
• Organise the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment.
• Drive continual improvement through KPI's.
• Attending management meetings to discuss upper level issues, priorities and targets.
• Identifying the need and arranging of sub contract work and issuing of Permit to Work.
• Arrange project related external services as and when required I.e. Scaffolding, cranes, NDE, etc.
• Provide motivation, support and guidance to all employees.


The successful applicant will possess:

• Proven experience of running a manufacturing and/or engineering facility
• Preference shall be given to candidates with a Mechanical Engineering background or relevant/equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Familiar with safe working practices and quality assurance procedures.
