Our client, a leading manufacturer of marine loading arms in the UK, is currently recruiting for an experienced Machinist to run a variety of machines manufacturing components for its marine loading arms, in Whitstable, Kent.

Your responsibilities

• With minimal supervision, undertake machining of our marine loading arm components to meet the requirements of the production plan and our quality management systems.
• Problem solving & assisting other team members, machining parts to fit.
• Collect spares and materials from stores using engineering drawings and parts lists to identify required parts.
• Carry out turning of forgings, pins & bushes to required drawings, ranging from 5mm diameter to 600mm diameter and varying lengths.
• Carry out screw cutting of various threads from M6 up to large ACME.
• Carry out milling and drilling of components..
• Undertake any other duties as and when required.

Required qualifications

• Must have relevant experience in a mechanical engineering environment, preferably apprenticeship served but not essential.
• Ability to complete all records and operations sheets accurately and to company procedures.
• Understand and care for tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety in machine shops and manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of slinging and lifting preferable but not essential
• Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical drawings and parts lists.
• A varied background of turning & milling is essential.
